When it snows …

I dream of sunny weather. New England winter storms are not my cup of tea. We had an easy winter until Snowstorm Nemo.

It looked pretty from inside my house. The boys had fun playing outside. I joined them for sledding.  HOWEVER, I was ready for winter to move on after one  after one messy morning commute. I retreated inside and over a hot cup of coffee began scrapping some summer pictures.

Don’t they look so happy with their Popsicles after a day of fun at the local water park!??! Summer, please come back ….

I had so much playing around with Studio Calico birds, straws & sequins. Turquoise and orange are the perfect colors to remind me of the hot sun, cooling off while running under sprinklers, and slurping a syrupy Popsicle.  How lucky was I to have a turquoise-striped straw in my stash!?

I had time for one other project in-between the cabin fever chaos from having 2 boys and one crazy cat inside. Luckily, I am not the only crafter working under these conditions. Garden Girl Corrie Jones has a great video with fun prompts to use bright happy colors. I combined this with Shimelle’s sketch for this layout. [Seriously, without  all of these sources of inspiration, I would be unproductive. Who can think with these kids constantly yelling, fighting, and can I ask again, who gave my boys a bowling ball!?!?]  I finally finished off the pretty papers in the Studio Calico’s So Cal kit. And since this was a Shimelle-inspired project, I just had to include a glittered alphas. The pinwheels are made with the Jenni Bowlin pinwheel punch that my brother gifted me.

Doesn’t my littlest one look adorable with his sunglasses and curls?!  LOVE IT!!

I’m not sure how many more winter storms await us. I’ll go out for the kids’ sake–because they love snow. Otherwise I’ll be inside, crafting, looking at summer pictures and waiting for this season to pass. Wish me luck ….

  1. I’m with you…I love winter but around this time I start to want Spring and summer! The little birds on the first page are so cute the way you have them lined up!

  2. According to the groundhog it is supposed to be a short winter. This past one was slushy and hopefuly wednesday will only be wet too. Great layout…I long for warm weather too.
