Another blast from Christmas Past

My dearest Gabriel has been quite a hoot around the Christmas tree. As I shared in my last post, his fascination with Christmas trees began around 7 months of age. Fast forward one year and my cutie is now walking and still taken in my twinkling lights. Except now he can walk around on his own so he spent most of the month taking down the Christmas decorations from the tree. At least we were smart enough to decorate with nonbreakable items from IKEA.

Back and forth Gabriel went all day, taking down decorations … walking away … us putting them back up … him coming back to take them down. We were amused as was everyone who got to witness this small form of obsessive compulsive behaviour. This past Christmas, Gabriel’s little brother took over this role. And Gabriel was not happy having reformed his own ways he fully expected to have a beautifully decorated tree all month long. As expected his little brother proceeded to ignore him and take down the decorations every day–multiple times a day. I told Gabriel he had to be patient that he used to do the same thing. Gabriel denied it which is why I had to pull out these pictures from 2006. And then of course I scrapped them because I miss him being so little and cute. I wonder how many years will pass before I have a fully decorated tree all month long?

  1. Ha ha, I love that he denied it! We had the same thing happen in our house this year… except baby managed to keep pulling the plastic baubles off their hooks and then we couldn’t find the hooks as they were the same colour as the tree! Love the title on your page. x

  2. that really is a super story! aren’t they funny! I remember how our dog used to pull down all the low decorations and take them away. She used to look at us so innocently but the fact that her face was covered in needles gave her away every time!
